Asan Memorial College of Arts & Science is one of the most prestigious coeducational, self-supporting institutions in Chennai. The organisation was founded in 1994 and is administered by the Asan Memorial Association. His Excellency Shri opened the College formally. K. R. Narayanan, Vice President of India at the time, in the presence of Mr. Vakkom Purushothaman, Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar.
From its modest beginnings in 1994, with only four undergraduate courses and six faculty members, the college has evolved to offer ten undergraduate courses (Arts, Science, and Commerce), four postgraduate courses (Science, Management), and two research programmes (Science). In 2010, the College also launched Shift II, which offers UG programmes in Commerce, BBA, and BCA.
The cherished mission of this school is to foster educational excellence. It seeks an inclusive “learning for all” approach and is committed to the individual’s holistic development as a responsible citizen who respects human values. The institution’s motto, “Education beyond Classrooms,” encourages an environment of academic vigour, sporting spirit, and cultural vitality.
