In 2001-2002, a branch of the well-known Dhanalakshmi Educational Trust called Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering (DCE) was set up near Tambaram in Chennai. Dr. V. P. Ramamurthi, M.Sc. (Engg. ), Ph.D., a former professor at Anna University and a well-known and dedicated academician, came up with the idea for DCE. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in New Delhi has approved the college, and it is connected to Anna University in Chennai. The Indian Institute of Professional Education (IIPE), which helps people prepare for entrance exams for professional courses, was also started by Dr. V. P. Ramamurthi, M.Sc. (Engg. ), Ph.D. in 1993. DCE is a sister institute to IIPE.
